Shelly Kerron

Third Generation Professional

  • Shelly Kerron is a third generation equestrian with over 25 years experience as a professional trainer.  Shelly began riding at the age of five and competing at the age of seven.  Growing up, Shelly was surrounded by knowledgeable and skilled horsemen.  Her grandfather, Harry Kerron owned and operated the Portland Riding Academy for over 50 years.  Her parents together, and separately owned and operated nationally recognized hunter-jumper businesses.   As a junior rider, Shelly  competed coast-to-coast excelling at such prestigious shows as Lake Placid, Tampa and Los Angeles International.  Shelly  won the regional ASPCA Maclay Finals in 1982. After  briefly and successfully showing as an amateur, Shelly turned professional in 1984, aptly coining her new business "Legacy".   As a young professional Shelly competed on the World Cup Circuit finishing in the top ten in  the West Coast standings in 1989.  With a family horse heritage spanning three generations, Shelly's experience and commitment to the sport continues to prove itself time and again as her and her students consistently win championships up and down the coast.
