Legacy Summer Camp
What can I expect for my child?
Whether your child chooses to ride for the summer or for a lifetime, our focus
at Legacy is to give your child a solid foundation to meet their goals, whether
that be pleasure riding and improving their skills, or to become an accomplished
show rider.
Why should I choose Legacy?
Legacy has highly qualified instructors with vast experience, well trained
quality lesson horses, and small class sizes that maximize individual attention
for your child.
Where is Legacy located?
On a beautiful 10 acre horse farm conveniently situated between Redmond and
Woodinville. The farm is
approximately 4 miles east of Totem Lake/Kirkland. Take Exit #20B, NE 124th St
off I-405.
What will my child learn?
During the daily riding lessons, your child will learn proper and safe English
riding techniques. Lessons vary based on the individual’s riding ability. In
addition to their time in the saddle, campers will be taught basic horsemanship
skills, including grooming and tacking up the horse. Campers will be awarded
certificates of achievement that in addition to noting their accomplishments,
gives them the opportunity to progress to the next level.
What other activities will my child do during camp?
Your child will participate in horse related educational games and arts & crafts
projects.
What are the requirements?
Legacy accepts riders 8 years of age and older. Suitable riding boots with a
heel and approved riding helmet are required. Our local tack stores will be able
to assist with this purchase. In addition, campers are also required to take a
minimum of 4 lessons prior to the camp session.
Why the pre-camp lessons?
Pre-camp lessons give your child the opportunity to grasp the fundamental formal
basics of riding so they will be able to competently and safely ride with other
campers during their session, maximizing their riding experience.
What are the days and times?
Camp sessions run Tuesday through Saturday 9AM - 1PM. On Saturday afternoon
campers will perform a demonstration ride for parents and family so they may
observe what their child has accomplished.
What is the cost?
$500 per session. $65 per
pre-camp lesson.
A nonrefundable deposit of $100 is required to process enrollment prior to June
1st. The balance of $400 is due on June 1st.
Full payment of $500 is due if enrolling after June 1st.
How do I go about enrolling my child in the Legacy camp program?
Please contact Brecken Sahs, Riding School Manager/Instructor by calling
(425) 869-1527 or emailing her at
lessons@legacyhuntersjumpers.com. Brecken will arrange a time that is
mutually convenient for you and your child to meet with her, tour the facility,
discuss any questions you may have and set up initial pre-camp lessons.
Why the business name Legacy?
Legacy was founded by Shelly Kerron, a third generation equestrian, to create a
riding program that promotes the standard of excellence she inherited from her
family. As owner and head trainer,
Shelly oversees all aspects of Legacy's operation and riding programs.
Under her guidance, the experienced professional staff ensure a positive,
friendly atmosphere while horse and rider are trained to the highest level of
their ability.
Is it possible for my child to ride year round?
Absolutely. In addition to an
outside riding arena the facility has an indoor covered riding arena where
lessons are offered year round.
Can my child participate in horse shows?
Absolutely. Legacy offers horse
shows on site where riding school students can participate and experience the
thrill of competition. Classes at
our horses shows start at the beginner walk - trot level and progress through
jumping over a course of fences.
Game classes are held to test and demonstrate the rider's skills. A qualified
judge and announcer, along with amazing ribbons and awards add to the prestige
of the event. In addition Legacy
hosts a BBQ during the event for all family, friends and exhibitors.
What if all the sessions are full?
At that time, additional sessions may be offered.
As an alternative, Legacy will attempt to design a summer riding program
that will mutually meet the needs of your child.
