
Shelly Kerron |

Shelly Kerron is a third
generation equestrian with over 25 years experience as a professional
trainer. Shelly
began riding at the age of five and competing at the age of seven.
Growing up, Shelly was surrounded by
knowledgeable and skilled horsemen.
Her grandfather, Harry Kerron owned and
operated the Portland Riding Academy for over 50 years.
Her parents together, and separately owned
and operated nationally recognized hunter-jumper businesses.
As a junior rider, Shelly
competed coast-to-coast excelling at such
prestigious shows as Lake Placid, Tampa and Los Angeles International.
Shelly
won
the regional ASPCA Maclay Finals in 1982. After
briefly
and successfully showing as an amateur, Shelly turned professional in
1984, aptly coining her new business "Legacy".
As
a young professional Shelly competed on the World Cup Circuit
finishing in the top ten in
the West Coast standings in 1989.
With a family horse heritage spanning
three generations, Shelly's experience and commitment to the sport
continues to prove itself time and again as her and her students
consistently win championships up and down the coast.

Betsy Christianson

Assistant Trainer/Instructor

Betsy began riding in the Riding School Program at Legacy at the age
of 9. With her heart set on showing she moved up to the training
program. Beginning in the Short Stirrup division, Betsy successfully
made her way through Children's Hunters into the Junior Hunters and
Medal/Equitation Classes. Betsy won numerous championships and year
end awards including Leading American Hunter Jumper foundation
Regional Junior World Championship Hunter Rider in 2003. In 2004 Betsy
competed at the USEF Hunter Seat Medal Finals and the Capital
Challenge.

Betsy graduated from Randolph College in Lynchburg, VA in May
of 2009 with a degree in history. While attending college she competed
on the Intercollegiate Equestrian Team and was Champion of the Oak
Ridge Medal Finals in 2006, and Champion of the Southwest Virginia
Hunter Jumper Association Medal Finals in 2008.

Turning
professional in the Fall of 2009, Betsy has come full circle to join
the Legacy Team once again.

Riding School Intructor/Manager

Brecken grew up
riding in Chicago showing ponies, equitation and jumpers on the "A"
hunter/jumper circuit.

Qualified and
competed at Pony Finals, Devon, The Pennsylvania National and Washington
National Horse shows. Horse shows that are some of the most
prestigious in the country.

Brecken
has taught
lessons and worked as assistant trainer for many well known trainers on the East Coast
including Todd Minikus, Scott Hofstetter, Ian Silitch, Leslie Howard and
Ray Texel. She brings a great deal of knowledge and skill to the
Riding School Program at Legacy.

In Brecken's spare
time she enjoys snow skiing and playing with her dog Schnitzel

Lola Michelin |
Therapeutic Support Staff
- Lola Michelin is both a
Licensed Massage Practitioner and a Large Animal Massage Practitioner with
a Bachelor Degree in Animal Science from Michigan State University.
- Lola received her training in equine
massage through apprenticeships with some of the best known names in the
business. She also attended Equisage, along with numerous other courses
on the subject. A graduate of Seattle Massage School, Lola began
developing a massage program for the horse and rider at her private
practice before founding the Northwest School of Animal Massage.
